Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20, 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is the 49th and current vice president of the United States. She is the first woman elected vice president and she is also the most powerful female officer in American history. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and also as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election and became the 2nd African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for health care, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. National attention was gained for her shrewd questions of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
