She is best known for her roles in Spamalot's West End revival, the Regent's Park revival of Into the Woods, as well as The Wizard of Oz (as the Wicked Witch of the West). For her work she has been nominated three times for the Olivier Award. In 2015, she joined the Game of Thrones cast as Septa Unella in the fifth season's sixth season. In addition to her role as Septa Unella as well, she was also an ensemble actor of the 2012 film adaptation of Les Miserables as well as the 2018 British psychological thriller Winter Ridge.
